Running Gitlab in a Docker Container in your Garage
As I am spending more time on LinkedIn in these days, I just published my first article there... it's about setting up a private Gitlab server.
In fact, I do have a setup of Gitlab in my garage. It's of course somewhat geeky, but there is a lot that can be learned and experimented with. Gitlab (and other offers) offer pretty complex services, and it's amazing that the open source community continues to drive such tools. Docker is a story on its own, also amazing technology.
In these days, small companies or even single person LLCs have access to infrastructure that was simply out of reach because of costs and complexity just a few years ago.
The LinkedIn article editor is not that great, it's really limited on layout options, but it somehow worked out. If you are on LinkedIn, please have a look.
