The Wrestler
After a few month on the shelf, we finally came around to see The Wrestler in HD/BluRay. The film earned both Mikey Rourke and Marisa Tomai an Oscar Nomination. It is about an aging professional Wrestler, who's main success area was some 20 years ago. Now he is trying to retire, but despite serious obstacles, moves on to relive the past in the ring. The movie has its share of gore, so it is not for everyone. To story, camera and acting are very good and memorable. Perhaps Mickey played a portion of his own life, so it came across very intense and convincing. The BluRay is thin on the extras, but the making-o-style documentary "Inside the Ring" is actually interesting to watch.
