Breaking old habits (1/2)
Yesterday an old habit was broken: Since a very long time we used HP ink jet printers - most recently the All-in-One Print/Copy/Scan/Fax OfficeJet 5510. However, for a few weeks now it tended to jam the paper, and I was looking for a printer that can do all that plus CD/DVD direct printing. Entrance Epson Artisan 800. The reviews say that this one produces great photo prints (it features six color ink), but it is a "cheap construction". It's all true. It looks good, great photo print (specifically on the proper paper), but terrible thin plastic construction. I always fear that something breaks when I move a part. Let's see how long it keeps up. Other than printing, it comes with Wifi /Ethernet, color touch screen and it has build-in memory card readers that export the content over the network. SW installation is tedious, and again I forgot to open up my wireless network MAC filter to get it connected - took me an hour to figure that out.
