Blastr composed seven individual posters released by Marvel in preparation for the May 2012 release of the Avengers movie. The resulting image is 3,800 pixels wide. With seven superheros and an even larger supporting staff, plus adequate foes, we can expect a complicated plot.

Macro Pictures
I got a new macro lens for my Alpha 55V
, and made a few test pictures in the recent days. I am quite happy with the color reproduction and the speed. The field of depth is surprisingly small when going to the 1:1 macro mode, so it is really hard to get the focus right. The autofocus function does not help much when using extreme magnification: the movement of the autofocus itself shakes the camera out of focus, so manual is better here. There are a few more pictures at Picasa, but these are not for everyone's taste: Ants, Annelids and Caterpillars...

STS-135
Liftoff... the final Shuttle mission is on the way. Just four crew members, as there is no remaining reserve shuttle for a rescue mission. However, I still hope that there is a secret hangar somewhere, just in case we need it for something, like an asteroid thread.

The Long Khan
Here is a promo for Epix, an Internet Video service: The Long Khan. They kick off a William Shatner/Star Trek related Movie Marathon, including the documentary "The Captains". The promo itself asks fans to send in their rendition of the legendary "Khaaaaan" shout from Star Trek II. Let's revisit this when its done.

Google Ad Game
Google goes a long way to wow the geeks. Not only is there a rumor that they actually bid "pi" billions of dollars and they took other natural constants to determine the right amount of cash for the Nortel patent package, they also created a really addictive game in the tradition of The Incredible Machine to advertise Nexus S and Android in general. The game was certainly cheaper to build than the bidding, but both are really cool.

Mango Strawberry Smoothie
We'll have the long Fourth of July weekend - and it is hot here in SoCal. So it is time for another smoothie instead of a heavy lunch. We got a good Mango, Strawberries and few Orange wedges as main ingredients. Added three ice cubes, not too much milk, and a dash of lemon juice. While I was at it I tried to play with Adobe's Lightroom
to give the picture some spin. Lightroom has a lot more options than my trusted Picasa; specifically I like the exposure control. But I am not sure if I can go through the price barrier. Right now there are 24 days left of my 30 day trial.
