Starbucks has landed in Japan for a while - basically an inescapable phenomenon. The pastries are a little different, but the coffee and overall look-and-feel is the same. Unrelated, I just finished reading "The Starbucks Experience". It is an easy read, and shows some interesting ideas how to approach this type of market (how to sell an ordinary product for an extraordinary price). But at the end, I can't recommend this book. The Starbucks management and everything it is doing is praised without end. No mistakes, always noble, always on course. So this seems to show only one side of the medal.
